​We’re looking for a skilled Lead Application Developer in Wellington to join a high-performing Development Team supporting and evolving a vital trade platform. If you're a senior developer ready to take the lead on technical delivery and contribute across a broad tech stack –this is your next big opportunity!

What you’ll be doing:
  • Designing and developing modern, scalable technical solutions

  • Supporting and enhancing a key national system with 24/7 availability

  • Working on cloud migration (Azure), modernisation, and maintenance projects

  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring team members

  • Participating in a rotating on-call roster (approx. one week in six – with extra pay)

What you’ll bring:
  • 5+ years as a Senior Developer in complex environments

  • Expertise in Java (Spring Boot, Quarkus) and JavaScript (Node.js)

  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services and APIs

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD, testing, and deployment practices

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills

  • Ability to lead under pressure and work across multiple streams

Bonus if you have:

  • React experience

  • PostgreSQL or similar database knowledge

  • Familiarity with messaging queues and Agile/DevOps delivery
