Data Engineer – Lending Foundations


About the team
The Lending Foundations team is driving a major transformation by replacing core systems and launching new lending products on a modern, cloud-based platform - enabling innovation, scalability, and growth.
  
This position will be assigned to the Lending Workstream, which is focused on all processes, platforms, and data related to the bank’s lending products as it pertains to the new Core Platform.
 

Purpose of role
As a Data Engineer, you will work in a team of data and business professionals in the Lending Workstream - designing and implementing new data pipelines, as well as updating existing pipelines, to enable successful completion of the Core Replacement project. A key part of this will be understanding the data in our source systems and that coming from external providers, modelling and ingesting it into SQL Server based warehouses and reporting systems while ensuring that there is consistency in naming, rules, semantics and security to meet the needs of the data consumers.
The role covers full development lifecycle activities including the analysis, design, build, refinement, test and rollout of data solutions.
  

Qualifications and experience
  • Role requires 5+ years’ experience in data engineering or similar data role.
  • Very strong Microsoft SQL Server experience, including the ability to write complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, ETL development in SSIS desirable.
  • Familiarity with modern data engineering tooling - Snowflake, DBT, and python would be a bonus.
  • Data analytics techniques and an in-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts.(including dimensional modelling).
  • Working with a wide range of data sources including XML and JSON, plus the ability to extract data from API’s.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with multiple business stakeholders.
  • Experience in data engineering, warehouse design and implementation, SQL relational database systems. Snowflake experience.
  • Strong understanding in modern data best practices like Version Control (GIT), Devops and CI/CD implementation.
  • Expertise in data architecture and cloud-based data platforms.
